A new 250-bed hotel and serviced apartment scheme will form the next phase of development at Liverpool’s Paddington Village.

Liverpool City Council says it has shortlisted three “leading hotel companies” to deliver the significant Knowledge Quarter project.

Well-known names Accor, Hilton and InterContinental Hotels are the trio interested in bringing the project forward with a decision on the preferred operator and design expected in late summer 2018.

The council says the creation of the mixed-use Paddington Village community will transform the former site of Archbishop Blanch School and forms part of the city’s wider multi-billion pound Knowledge Quarter regeneration.

Elsewhere in the Knowledge Quarter, it has been announced that the new £35 million northern headquarters of the Royal College of Physicians will be known officially as The Spine.

The 160,000 sq ft building, which is scheduled to opens in 2020, will boast an internal sky garden complete with “high-oxygen producing plants” and a fine dining restaurant available for private hire.
