Tate Liverpool will host the largest Francis Bacon exhibition ever held in the north of England this summer.

From 18 May – 18 September, Francis Bacon: Invisible Rooms will feature around 30 paintings alongside a number of rarely seen drawings and documents from one of the UK’s greatest modern painters.

Francesco Manacorda, artistic director at Tate Liverpool says: “Tate Liverpool is proud of its long tradition of bringing renowned artists to the city.

“Some key works have already been secured for the exhibition and we’re thrilled that we are showing a major Bacon show in the north of England for the first time.

Francesco adds: “Not only this but we are also offering new interpretations of Bacon’s work, giving fresh insights into one of Britain’s greatest painters.”

In a career that spanned over 50 years , Irish-born Bacon was famous for the use of striking and raw imagery in his work.
