The childhood home of Ringo Starr is set to go under the hammer at the Cavern Club.

The former Beatle lived at the two-bedroom Victorian terrace in Toxteth until he was 21, with the Fab Four often dropping by to visit him along with the late Cilla Black.

Still a regular haunt for Beatles fans, No.10 Admiral Street is part of the official Beatles Tour but following the death the former tenant Margaret Gorse, the owners have decided to sell the property.

Margaret had lived in the house for 37 years and was always more than happy to invite visitors in to take look around the home until her passing last year.

Claire Griffiths, executive director of property at Plus Dane, says: “Plus Dane has considered all of the options in relation to this property following the sad death of Margaret, who was a well-respected figure in the community.

Claire adds: “We felt it would be most beneficial to the community for the property to be sold as any profits made will be reinvested back into Plus Dane homes in the L8 area.”

Following consultation with local residents, it has been decided that following any sale, the property cannot be turned into a museum or tourist attraction.

The auction will be held at the Cavern Club on 24 March, with a guide price set at £55,000.
