Outdoor Cinema screenings return to Southport park

The Outdoor Cinema programme will return to Southport’s King’s Gardens next month with open-air screenings of three Hollywood blockbusters.

The new season will kick off with a showing of ‘Star Wars – The Force Awakens’ on 10 August, followed by ‘Mamma Mia!’ two weeks later and ‘Jungle Book’ on 2 September.

Organised by Sefton Council, the events will be free to attend with a suggested donation of £2 to the Friends of King’s Gardens, which will be used to fund future screenings.

A statement from the local authority reads: “Following a hugely successful opening last summer, Sefton Council is set to bring another three Hollywood blockbusters to King’s Gardens over the next few months. The line-up boasts something for everyone, from family evenings out to a night for the grown-ups, and is set to be a hugely popular event.”

Attendees are invited to bring their own refreshments but are asked to take any rubbish home with them afterwards.
