An annual Crosby sporting event for young people is expanding to new locations across the Liverpool City Region due to popular demand.

Sefton Council’s ‘Sporting Lights’ is set to take place in Killen Green Park in Netherton, North Park in Bootle and Southport’s Krater Skate Park, as well as at its usual home of Coronation Park next month.

Designed to steer youngsters away from anti-social behaviour on ‘Mischief Night’, ‘Sporting Lights’ activities include skate park coaching, zorbing, football, pedalos and more.

Free refreshments will be provided by Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Dominoes and Subway on a first come, first served basis.

Councillor Ian Moncur, Sefton Council cabinet member children, schools, families and leisure, says: “We have been running this for a number of years now and I am delighted that we have been able to expand Sporting Lights out to other parks in the area.

“It promises to be a dazzling evening of fun and free activities in some of the borough’s finest green spaces and thanks must go in advance to all our partner agencies who have worked so hard to help us bring this great event together.”

Part of the council’s Halloween and Bonfire Night programme, ‘Sporting Lights’ takes place between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday, 30 October.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a torch along as not all areas of the parks will be floodlit, while those attending the Krater Skate Park session must bring their own equipment.
