Constellations to showcase new-look space with free event

Constellations will showcase its new-look event space this week with a free gig.

South London musician’s Sumochief and Poppy Ajudha will entertain guests at the Baltic Triangle venue as it looks to establish itself as a “landing-place for emerging talent”.

The event is part of a new live music programme for 2017 at Constellations, which was recently named Merseyside Independent Business (MIB) of the Year.

Speaking on the gig, which will take place on Thursday (1 December), Nicholas Baskerville, marketing manager at Constellations, says: “As an independent venue it is our duty to support the national pool of independent artists who in many cases struggle to find stages to showcase their talent.”

The new live music will run alongside the established programme of club events, in-house programming, conferences, weddings and garden parties.

As part of its attempt to make inroads on the live music scene, Constellations is now a partner venue for Independent Venue Week (IVW), which started in 2015.

In January 2017, the Greenland Street venue will host back to back live music events as well as a day and night conference exploring contemporary issues facing independent venues.

There will be addresses, keynote speeches and panel discussions, with guests and participants expected from across the country.
