WE AS DESIGNERS ARE ALWAYS on the lookout for inspiration. Whether it be an exhibition, restaurant, travelling or fashion, we find exploring helps us with our creativity and keeping us up to date with current trends… this month we are feeling those jungle vibes: the new tropical interior trend!
Tropical prints are bang on trend this spring and summer! The exotic plants and jungle patterns have become popular across fashion, accessories, art and home décor.
Introducing the jungle theme into your home will create an uplifting atmosphere whilst celebrating the beauty of nature.
The botanical prints are perfect for achieving a more understated interior where simplicity is key.
IF YOU’RE BRAVE ENOUGH, BE BOLD WITH PATTERNS
Don’t let a bold pattern scare you! A statement wall creates vibrancy instantly. Go in strong with tropical-inspired wallpaper to give a colour pop.
Including the bright patterns of the jungle generates a positive and relaxing space – a space which will suddenly feel fresh and relaxed with the addition of some leafy designs.
Brass and copper tones work beautifully with this trend, so when you come to adding lighting and furnishings, keep this in mind! Incorporating these tones will blend wonderfully with the colours and work brilliantly in your tropical interior.
If you prefer a more subtle vibe, try bringing the jungle patterns into your interior through soft furnishings. Adding some botanical prints into neutral-toned interiors is an effortless way to incorporate this trend.
With the more subtle designs, it’s best to choose lighting that isn’t too much of a statement but adds an element of elegance to the room.
FEEL GOOD WITH TROPICAL PLANTS
Using plants is the perfect way to bring the outside into your interior; the space will feel pure and clean. If you don’t wish to alter your entire design, add some plants to incorporate the tropical trend, it couldn’t be easier.
The plants will become a main feature of the space, creating a bold addition and also double as the perfect Mothers’ Day present! As well as looking great, plants help to create a calming atmosphere. Plants offer just that – they make you feel cosy and relaxed.
The way you design your interior can have a direct impact on your mood. It’s scientifically proven that different colours have an effect on how you feel.
Likewise, plants have been known to have a positive influence on stress levels and well- being. Including plants in an interior allows you to feel connected to nature and therefore, calm and relaxed.
More and more people want to get rid of their grey walls that were once on-trend and inject a splash of colour into their interiors.
People want their homes to reflect who they are and not look like a page straight out of the catalogue. Adding the pop of colour creates a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Hopefully I have inspired you to introduce some tropical vibes to your interior. This trend is perfect for the spring and summer, creating a fresh and vibrant space.
