Boutique hotel plan for Concert Square club

A building in Liverpool clubbing hub Concert Square could be converted into a boutique hotel under new plans.

The Holmes Building, which is currently empty after nightclub venue Ruby Sky closed its doors last year, is the subject of a new application to convert the first floor into a boutique hotel.

The plan includes an entrance to the hotel on Fleet Street but will not signal the end of the venue as a bar. A separate application has been made to create a bar area facing onto Concert Square with outside seating on the ground floor of the venue.

Named ‘Shenanigans’ and featuring four-leaf clover designs in the application, the new bar would be able to serve customers outside the venue if it is approved. The venue was previously called Ruby Sky and has been through a number of iterations in the past 15 years.

Snook Architects has designed the changes to the bar on behalf of JSM Bar and Leisure Ltd, having previously carried out work on Grove at Concert Steps, Black Rabbit and Soho, which is opposite the proposed plans.

Jamie Motlagh, who has submitted the application for the boutique hotel on the first floor, is also a director of JSM Bar and Leisure Ltd. He is also listed as a director of Grove and Black Rabbit Shot Co.

The full details of the hotel application have not yet been made available.
