Africa Oye has announced the running order for the 23rd annual festival at Sefton Park on 20 – 21 June.
The vibrant festival celebrates African culture, food and music, and a host of African musicians are in the line-up starting from 12.30pm at Sefton Park – and as ever, entry will be free.
Headlining on Saturday is soul supremo Omar, preceded by one of East Africa’s most exciting new bands – Sarabi – performing for the first time ever in the UK. Meanwhile, reggae icon Frankie Paul will close the festival on Sunday.
‘Oye Introduces’, a new addition to the festival which showcases local talent, will include Pieces of Man on the Saturday and Merki Waters on Sunday 22 June as a host of acts entertains crowds at the festival, which has become a staple in the Liverpool festival calendar.
As well as the music there will be food stalls selling a variety of dishes from Africa, the Carribean and beyond, as well as pop-up clothing tents and arts and crafts.
