Liverpool go-kart track confirms December opening

Go-kart company TeamSport says it will open a new track a mile from Liverpool city centre in December 2015.

The company, which also has a track in Warrington and counts footballer Peter Crouch and Oasis star Liam Gallagher among its customers, has submitted an application for a new indoor go-kart track at the North Harrington building near to Brunswick Station and hopes to open in 2015.

Dom Gaynor, the managing director of TeamSport, says: “We are really excited to be bringing the thrill of indoor karting to Liverpool City Centre. We know the revitalised Docks area already attracts people for a variety of shopping and leisure uses. As such it is the perfect location for a TeamSport track.”

The company plans to target corporate track days, birthday parties, stag and hen dos and families with the new track, its 14th in the UK.

The company plan s to hire local people for many of the jobs, with up to 40 permanent and part-time roles to be created once it is open. TeamSport says it will hold recruitment assessment days for the roles if the planning application is granted.

The building has previously been earmarked for warehouse or industrial development but the application argues it is not suited to those requirements and recommends a switch to leisure use.

The company says: “TeamSport hopes to bring an old run down building that has been vacant for almost 10 years back to life and provide a fun leisure facility for the City of Liverpool.

“The TeamSport track in Warrington has already proved to be very successful, and the company’s indoor venues have very high standards with many tracks having multiple levels, hairpins and banked turns, professional race suits and helmets.”
