Baltic Village among schemes due in 2016

A private rented sector scheme (PRS) overlooking Liverpool’s waterfront is among major city projects heading for completion in 2016, after overcoming challenges during construction.

The Baltic Village development, by Promenade Estates, is said to be on track and is expected to be ready for September next year, in a move which will mark the long-awaited transformation of a site which was previously the subject of a stalled project.

A previous developer had originally begun work on the site, situated on the edge of the city’s thriving Baltic Triangle, in 2006, before the company collapsed a year later.

With Promenade Estates having kickstarted work on the current scheme at the start of this year, the firm’s chairman, Peter Hynd, says some challenges relating to a structure that had been left behind on the site have been faced whilst working on the new residential-led complex.

Set to comprise 324 luxury apartments which will be let on an American model also featuring a concierge service, meeting rooms and cafés among its features, Baltic Village is one of several schemes under the spotlight in the latest issue of Your Move, as it looks at some prominent Merseyside sites which are due progress or are expected to come to fruition during the year ahead.

Projects and proposals for new homes at sites including Liverpool city centre’s Central Village, Cains Brewery Village, Kirkby town centre and the former International Garden Festival plot are also brought into focus.
