Britain’s exit from the European Union will cast Liverpool’s cultural sector into “huge uncertainty”, according to the director of National Museums Liverpool.
David Fleming tells Your Move that his organisation is determined to maintain dialogue with its international clients following the nation’s withdrawal from the EU.
He says: “Brexit means huge uncertainty for Liverpool, for the city region, for the cultural sector, for the UK nations.
“National Museums Liverpool’s own response will be to continue international dialogues, because like it or not, we all operate in a globalised world. The biggest mistake we could make is to withdraw into our shell.”
Britain is set to leave the EU after 43 years of membership following the results of the referendum, which saw Brexit edge the vote by 52% to 48%. Prime Minister David Cameron announced his resignation after the result was confirmed.
More than 33 million people submitted ballot papers, the highest turnout for a nationwide vote in the UK since 1992.
