‘Fan personalisation area’ planned for Anfield concourse

Liverpool Football Club fans’ messages could become a permanent part of the Anfield stadium’s concourse under plans for a ‘fan personalisation area’.

Liverpool FC & Athletic Grounds Ltd has applied for permission to dedicate an area of public realm to the north west of the ground’s extended Main Stand to supporters and key players from the club’s history.

The plans, submitted to Liverpool City Council, propose various sized granite paving stones will be available to be “purchased” by fans for their messages to be applied, and will then be installed in seven phases.

The stones will also feature alongside seven granite benches featuring information on players from the club’s history including Billy Liddell, Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes, Steven Gerrard and Elisha Scott.

Concourse lighting and trees would also feature as part of the planned ‘fan personalisation area’.

A document submitted to Liverpool City Council as part of the planning application says: “The proposal will provide visual upgrading of the concourse area to the stadium and result in an enhanced visitor destination.

“This reflects the club’s commitment to create a year-round visitor attraction with a high quality environment that draws and retains people in the Anfield area and contributes to the wider regeneration objectives of the city.”
