Liverpool-based property developer Legacie has supported 107 young people through its Bright Futures Scheme, which offers paid apprenticeships combining on-site experience with higher education.
Partnering with Liverpool John Moores University, Legacie developed a programme that offers full-time apprenticeships across construction and commercial divisions. The scheme gives aspiring professionals the opportunity to gain practical site experience while studying towards a degree-level qualification at the University.
Designed to bridge the gap between education and employment, the programme equips apprentices with the technical knowledge, industry qualifications and mentorship needed to build long-term careers in the sector.
As part of its continued growth, Legacie has committed to expanding its recruitment of apprentices and graduates, investing in local talent and helping address the construction sector’s growing skills shortage. Alongside degree study, the apprentices benefit from industry-recognised training and the chance to work on some of Liverpool’s most significant regeneration schemes.
Nora El Gendy, Alumni of the Bright Futures Scheme, says: “Having the opportunity to contribute to projects including The Mill and Maritime View gave me real confidence and showed me that my hard work is recognised.
“I’ve been fortunate to receive fantastic support from my mentor, Steve, and the wider team, who have encouraged me every step of the way. I’d highly recommend any student to put themselves forward for the Bright Futures Scheme. It provides exposure to every stage of the development process, while giving you the confidence, practical skills and support needed to succeed.”
John Morley, CEO of Legacie, adds: “We’re passionate about creating opportunities for local people to build rewarding careers in construction. The Bright Futures Scheme isn’t simply an apprenticeship programme – it’s an investment in the future of our business, our industry and our city.
“We’ve successfully supported over 100 young people, making a real difference to their professional development. By combining academic learning with hands-on experience on major regeneration projects, we’re supporting the next generation of construction professionals while ensuring our workforce has the skills needed for the future.”
