The Florrie Fest Fundraiser & community street party returns this weekend with a huge line-up of bands, artists and activities.

Liverpool group Red Rum Club will headline the music festival on Saturday (28 August) with an acoustic set, whilst the likes of Amiee Stevens, Ali Horn, Beyond Average, David Silcock & The Castaways, Hushtones, Jake Gerard Nolan and Jimmy Allen will also perform.

A free community street party will also take place in the Tommy Bache Community Garden, with a range of activities organised including face painting, drum workshops, henna, football, and a children’s funfair.

Live music will be provided by The Florrie Guitar & Ukulele Groups, Chris Mac from Silent Sleep, Tom Croft, Matty from The Shipbuilders and “some very special guests”.

Money raised from both events will go towards supporting the vital work The Florrie does in the Dingle.

Over the last 12 months, the charity has provided thousands of food parcels to vulnerable people and families in the local area and has also given out thousands of hot meals and packed lunches to vulnerable school children, who may have otherwise gone with nothing.

The Florrie is the oldest surviving purpose-built boys’ club in Britain, and for a century provided a safe recreation to boys from poor communities in South Liverpool.

Founded in 1889 by former Liverpool mayor Bernard Hall, it was named as a tribute to his daughter Florence who died at the age of 22.
