Liverpool’s planning committee will make a final decision on Elan Homes’ proposal to build 37 homes in Aigburth.

Plans show the intent to use 2.69 acres of land on Aigburth Road and Tramway Road for the residential development.

The site will comprise a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes with associated garages and parking.

The brownfield site currently consists of un-maintained shrubbery and is unoccupied by buildings.

St Michael’s ward councillors Sarah Jennings, John Coyne and Tom Crone have objected to the plans on the grounds that the development could cause traffic congestion, pedestrian safety issues, loss of parking spaces, and loss of habitat, wildlife and trees.

However, the head of planning has recommended the plans for approval and believes that the “proposed development would be in a sustainable location and contribute to the range of housing stock available in the location”.

The decision is expected to be made next week (5 April).
