STRIKING BEFORE AND AFTER IMAGES show how Liverpool property developer Winter Melia transformed a disused Hoylake church into contemporary apartments – giving the local landmark a whole new lease of life.
Built in the early 1900’s, Hoylake Presbyterian Church on Alderley Road was sadly closed in 2014 due to dwindling congregation numbers.
Winter Melia completed its redevelopment of the historic structure earlier this year – managing to retain many of the building’s beautiful original features including dramatic beamed ceilings, stained glass windows and stone columns.
Speaking about the project, Phil Melia, director of Winter Melia, says: “Church Place has been a massive challenge but one which we have thoroughly enjoyed.
“We have worked closely with residents and the council in order to deliver the best scheme for the area and the results speak for themselves – 17 new dwellings and a sustainable use for a disused church.
“We are proud to be a part of the regeneration of the area, bringing a historical building back to life. Although buildings of heritage come with their challenges we love to see the transformation with sympathetic development.
“We also have a development pipeline of several other historic and listed buildings across the North West which we are really looking forward to delivering.”
