Is your home 2020 enough?

Christmas is done, decorations are gone and our homes are feeling bare! Helen Kaufman rounds up the top trends to look out for this year.

Many of the key trends for spring/summer 2020 offer new ways to update an existing décor. This means you don’t have to redecorate your whole home to be on song with the latest styles.

STRIPES

Not just for sailors and bank robbers, stripes are a trend which return year after year. Great news if you already have them! It’s a true classic from season to season that will never go out of fashion.

Stripes have been modernised for the coming year…utilise them through trend led materials and textures.

If painting your wall floor to ceiling in bold stripes seems a bit too dramatic, buying a rug or using a fine stripe, muted tone wallpaper is an easy way to introduce the trend.

SCULPTURAL SIDE TABLES

If you’re looking to introduce a talking point into a room, a side table is a great piece to invest in.

Stay away from traditional shapes such as squares and rectangles in order to make your table double as artwork. The shift to more design-led, sculpted tables is really refreshing.

Materials including glass, resin and ceramic are all great at achieving much more than the standard side table seen in our homes.

CURVY FURNITURE

If you love your curves then this trend is for you!

Steering clear from the formality of harsh lines within the home, curved upholstery can really soften a space.

Or why not opt for smaller pieces such as a rounded ottoman or circular console.

ARTWORK

Where to start with this… artwork is so personal that it’s mainly down to you what to display in your home. Landscape, abstract, floral, portraits – the list is endless in terms of its content. So are the materials used to create the artwork. Paint, prints, textures, enlarged imagery in colour or greyscale…the choices are never ending.

The perfect way to extend your own personality into your home is by hanging it on your wall. You might not know what you like until you see it. Artwork that you are drawn to is generally the best way forward when selecting these items.

So there you have it. A quick insight into this year’s trends! If you need help or simply need guidance in improving your home, our store is full of inspiration, cosy feels… and it’s very friendly! I look forward to seeing you all, Helen x
