Plans to revitalise the Lime Street area of the city have been given the go ahead by city planners.

The plans, which would include the refurbishment and demolition of Lime Street buildings between the Grade II-listed Crown hotel pub and Grade II*-listed Vines pub, including the demolition of The Futurist, were approved at a planning meeting earlier today (11 August).

Commenting on the decision, Neptune Developments managing director Steve Parry says: “We are delighted that the scheme has been approved because this is a development that needs to happen. The delay has given us the opportunity to get this design right and fine- tune a development that will kick-start the wider regeneration of the Lime Street area. That process now needs to begin.”
