Liverpool’s RLB360 (Royal Liver Building 360) was named a silver winner at the recent VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2022 – with judges praising the attraction’s “outstanding staff”.

The ceremony featured finalists across 15 categories, handpicked by tourism industry experts from more than 300 entries.

The prestigious awards, which have been running for more than 30 years and “celebrate the very best of England”, champion innovation, quality and best practice across the sector.

After a rigorous judging process, the winners of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2022 were announced. RLB360 won silver in the ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ category, beating Liverpool’s British Music Experience (BME) which took bronze – both were narrowly pipped by Nothe Fort in Dorset.

RLB360, located inside the famous Royal Liver Building, cost more than £1 million to install and allows people to explore the iconic building, marvel at the history and architecture on display, and go behind the scenes to learn about the giant clocks.

Visitors can also make their way up to the 15th floor, just like Batman did in the recent blockbuster Hollywood movie, while getting up close and personal with the enormous Liver Birds, affectionately named Bella and Bertie.

Chris Devaney, operations manager at RLB360, says: “We have welcomed more than 50,000 people to our attraction since opening in 2019, which is some feat considering the closures and challenges we faced during the pandemic.

“We’re still working our way out of it but winning awards like this and being recognised on a national stage will only help and it is a true testament to the hard work our staff have put in.

“We have won the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Liverpool Tourism Awards in both years we have been able to enter so far and we don’t plan to ever let our standards slip.”
