A South Liverpool cycle studio will hold a special pop-up event this Saturday (9 September) to raise awareness of men’s mental health issues.

A special ‘Calm Ride’ will take place at Rise on Smithdown Road from 12.30pm whilst Pete Cranfield, owner of Cutthroatpete’s Barber Company, will be hand to offer taster trims, cuts and shapes from 9am until 3pm.

Pete says: “I’m really excited to be doing this pop-up barbershop at Rise. It’s a great concept and something that is a topic of many conversations in my chair.

“I decided that rather than taking payment for my services on the day, I would donate the takings to CALM.

“Mental health is something that effects a lot of peoples lives, including mine, so to be able to donate some money to them has made the event more special.”

The event will also include a hot candle lit yoga session from 1.30-2.30pm, with all money raised on the day being donated to CALM.

CALM is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

Chilly Jenkins, director of Rise, adds: “We hope to raise awareness of the benefits of regular exercise as we strive to keep the winter blues at bay.

“We take pride in every single person that comes through our doors at Rise, as someone is always battling a mental war with themselves whether it’s to attend a spin class or simply just get out of bed that day.”
