New affordable housing could be built on Walton Road in North Liverpool under plans submitted to the council.
An applicant named as FBMUK has revealed proposals to construct 24 homes on a derelict brownfield site located where the street meets Woodhouse Close.
The properties, which consist of 11 three-bedroom homes and 13 two-bedroom houses, are aimed at families and designed to match the surrounding buildings on Woodhouse Close and Walton Road.
A report issued to the council’s planning department reads: “The site has been vacant for many years. We feel that bringing the site into beneficial use will achieve the economic and environmental benefits as well as those of a visual impact to the street.
“The provision of good quality apartments in close proximity to important leisure facilities such as Rice Lane Recreation Ground and Rice Lane City Farm will ensure that the housing accommodation is attractive to families and with the added benefit of reducing long distance commuting by car.”

Woodhouse Close to Rice Lane City Farm, is approximately a walking distance of 2 miles, a little further to Rice Lane Recreation Ground, suggesting they are in ‘close proximity’ is quite imaginative.
