New art gallery and shop to launch in Gostins Arcade

A new gallery space and shop will open in Liverpool on Monday (17 November), showcasing local talent and occasional international visiting artists.

Unhinged Gallery and Art Space is being launched within the Gostins Arcade, inside the Gostins Building on Hanover Street, and aims to provide a shop window for contemporary art that is “different from the norm”.

The project has been set up by web developer Daniel Yeoman, who moved to Merseyside 12 years ago. He says:  “Working as a web developer in Liverpool put me in touch with some very talented designers, who just weren’t getting the representation or exposure they deserved.

“I wanted to change all that, and when a space became available in Gostins Arcade, I realised I could create a unique new space for art in the city. Unhinged is different to other galleries as we seek out artists who are not mainstream, and we work with a number of passionate people who are creating their art alongside working in full time jobs.”

The first exhibition in the space will feature six artists who Daniel has worked with and promoted through his Unhinged website, all with “diverse and challenging styles”. Six further exhibitions are also said to be in the pipeline for 2015 and will be announced on www.unhinged-art.co.uk.
