Oktoberfest heading back to Liverpool

Organisers behind Liverpool’s Oktoberfest have announced that the event will be returning to the city later this year.

Taking place at Pier Head over three days in September, Oktoberfest will feature a live German band alongside authentic beer and specialties including Schnitzel and a special Bavarian lunch.

Festival director, Carsten Raun has confirmed that the second official Liverpool Oktoberfest will feature lower prices for food and drink after customers complained of ‘London prices’ at last year’s event.

He says: “Prices at the event will be scaled down in order to maximise customers’ satisfaction.

“The mood at our event is as good as the one in Munich. One thing the British and the German have in common is the joy of life with a nice beer, so Oktoberfest is a perfect place to meet.”

Liverpool Oktoberfest will be held in a giant marquee with a capacity of 1,500 seats – all serving staff will be dressed in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a ‘true German beer’ on tap, Bavarian Festbeer, which is brewed in accordance with German purity law.

For those who prefer to sample some of the country’s most famous delicacies there will be Schnitzel (deep-fried pork cutlet), prezel (twist-knot bread), Händel (grilled chicken) and Schweinebraten (roast pork) all on offer with a special Bavarian lunch prepared for families on Sunday.

Liverpool Oktoberfest will run from 22-25 September at Pier Head.

Entrance is free on Thursday and Sunday, £5 on Friday and £10 on Saturday. The event is for those aged 18 years or older, except on Sunday when children will be allowed in for free.
