The childhood home of Ringo Starr will go under the hammer today (24 March) at the Cavern Club.

The two-bedroom Victorian terrace in Toxteth was the former Beatle’s home until he was 21 and received regular visits from the Fab Four and other famous faces from the Merseybeat scene, including Cilla Black.

The property is part of the Official Beatles Tour and still attracts fans daily, with former tenant, Margaret Gorse, often inviting visitors in to look around the home.

Following Margaret’s passing, owners Plus Dane Housing have decided to sell the property and plan to re-invest any profits made back into Plus Dane homes in the L8 area.

Claire Griffiths, executive director of property at Plus Dane Housing, says: “From the community’s point of view, it’s good to see that the forthcoming auction is attracting so much interest because we’ve promised that any profits we make from the sale of Ringo Starr’s childhood home will be reinvested back into Plus Dane homes in the L8 area.

“We have taken on board the concerns of local residents and have put specific restrictions on the sale of the house so it cannot become a tourist attraction or museum”.

Auctioneer Countrywide is confident that No. 10 Admiral Street will attract plenty of attention from investors with an interest in the Fab Four as it heads to auction with a guide price of £55,000.
