The Jacksons – formerly The Jackson 5 – are coming to Liverpool for a major concert over the August bank holiday weekend.

Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson, the three remaining brothers of the five that started the iconic pop band in 1968, will entertain crowds with hits such as ‘I Want You Back’, ‘ABC’ and ‘Blame It On The Boogie’, at the Liverpool Celebrates festival at the Pier Head.

Tito says: “We’re going to get Liverpool partying!”

“We will be playing as many Jackson hits as we can and have a big party on stage with our UK band. It will be a big Jackson party in Liverpool.”

The Jackons will be playing at the festival on Saturday 24 August.

Other acts confirmed for the four-day event include Frankie Goes to Hollywood legend Holly Johnson, The Lightning Seeds, Boyzlife and Liverpool band Space.

Jackie Jackson adds: “Liverpool is a fantastic city with a huge music history and we can’t wait to get on stage. It’s going to be great playing here. It’s exciting.

“The kind of music we have made is the kind of music that you can bring your whole family to enjoy. The show is family oriented.

“Our songs are legendary and it is nice to know we have been an influence on other acts and other groups that are coming up and that they appreciate our work. We’re also looking forward to seeing the other bands playing in Liverpool. Everyone knows Liverpool is famous for music.

“We love performing together. It makes it very easy working with your siblings, and travelling with them. We have fun together.”

The Liverpool Celebrates festival takes place at the Pier Head for four days across the August bank holiday weekend. Bongo’s Bingo will also be putting on a special event at the festival which also includes a variety of major tribute acts including Elton John, Oasis, Queen and The Beatles.
