The Old Blind School bar and restaurant will open its doors on the corner of Hardman Street and Hope Street in May.

Work is ongoing on the Grade II listed building, which will be revamped into a ground floor pub with cask ales, a private room for sports screening, log burners and an outdoor terrace overlooking Hardman Street.

Other features of the building include a striking ornate staircase with a skylight leading to a spectacular first floor restaurant space. Work to restore original features of the building and install modern additions is well underway.

The venue will be the first in Liverpool for The New Moon Company, which has pubs in Cheshire and Manchester.

Co-owner Paul Mooney says: “The Old Blind School is a labour of love. It’s going to be a classic blend of modern, urban gastro pub with cask ales sourced locally, cocktails and wines by the glass or bottle, which we have vetted.”

The venue is the company’s first in the city and Paul adds: “This area for me is a brilliant part of Liverpool and I can’t wait to get the doors open – and who says this is going to be the only one we do in Liverpool?”
