Ex-Everton, Manchester City and England Women’s star Toni Duggan marked Morrisons’ ongoing support for The Women’s Football Awards with a visit to its flagship Kirkby store.
Liverpool-born Toni met with Morrisons colleagues and girls from a local primary school football team to learn more about the company’s initiatives aimed at empowering its female workforce, as well as its pride in supporting the Women’s Football Awards – Europe’s biggest celebration of the women’s game.
Charlotte Exell, group online director at Morrisons and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Chair, says: “Morrisons is once again proud to support the Women’s Football Awards.
“We share a passion with the organisation for empowering women and young people to achieve their ambitions, both in the workplace and beyond. To launch this year’s awards, we were thrilled to host Toni Duggan at our Kirkby store.”
Now in its fourth year, the Women’s Football Awards has become a regular fixture in the sporting calendar. The event recognises the growth of women’s football and brings together players, clubs, brands and supporters for an evening of celebration.
This year’s ceremony, taking place in May, will be hosted by broadcaster Gabby Logan and Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher.
Jamie Carragher adds: “The support of Morrisons and other partners helps deliver the Women’s Football Awards. It has become a staple of the sporting calendar.”
The awards will recognise talent across the women’s game, with nominees including Arsenal forward Alessia Russo, Tottenham Hotspur’s Lenna Gunning-Williams, and Manchester United captain Maya Le Tissier.
