Liverpool Philharmonic has teamed up with a new catering team and the owners of Spire restaurant to transform its menu when the new bar opens.
Centreplate, which also caters for the ACC Liverpool, will take over the venue’s food and drink offering as a £13.8 million refurbishment of the Hope Street bar, Grand Foyer and auditorium continues.
The new-look Philharmonic will offer a collection of new menus including an afternoon tea menu with sandwiches and pastries, and a lunch and evening menu designed through a collaboration with Spire, one of Liverpool’s top restaurants. Owners Matt and Adam Locke have helped to design signature dishes such as Earl Grey tea smoked mackerel with Wirral watercress, horseradish crème fraiche; Spire’s grilled halloumi, pomegranate and avocado salad; and Steamed West Coast codling with parsley liqueur and sauté potatoes.
Other changes include an extended wine and champagne list, four new sharing platters including seafood, antipasta, vegetarian and ploughmans, and the introduction of a cinema and dine menu in future for the venue’s film screenings.
Another Liverpool company, Brew Tea Co, will supply seven speciality teas and Liverpool potter Alison Appleton has delivered specially-designed teapots to accompany them. Finally, a unique coffee blend will be offered as part of the hot drink selection.
Millicent Jones, Liverpool Philharmonic’s executive director marketing, communications and fundraising, says: “As part of the refurbishment of Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, which opened in 1939, we want our hospitality offer to match the excellence of the concerts and events we present at the Hall, and for it to be an integral part of animating the Hall and attracting visitors throughout the day.”
This year marks the 175th anniversary of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and a series of celebratory events and concerts have been announced to celebrate the milestone and the hall’s refurbishment.
