Construction work at Magenta Living and Starship Group’s new modular development in Birkenhead is on track for completion this summer.

Representatives from Magenta and Starship gathered at the Brook Street site this week to discuss the next steps as walls were lifted into place to complete the outside structure of eight new homes.

The new homes are situated on the former site of the Brooklands high-rise, which was a local landmark from its construction in 1962 until its demolition in 2011. The £1.9 million investment is the third project in which Magenta have partnered with Starship.

Building modular homes has meant quicker construction with less disruption to the community, as the majority of the build is completed off site in Starship’s Wallasey factory.

The homes are designed to be affordable and energy-efficient due to their EPC A rating. This exceeds the government’s target for all social homes to achieve an EPC C rating by 2030 and aligns with Magenta’s goal to build 1,000 new homes by the same year.

Funding for the Brook Street development have been partially provided by Homes England’s Affordable Homes Programme.
