Work underway on new £1.2m Wirral housing scheme

Work has begun on a new £1.2 million development to provide “much-needed affordable homes in Wirral”.

Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT) is building 10 new properties on the Beechwood estate in Prenton.

The development, which will sit on the former Windmill Pub site, will see four two-bedroom houses, two four-bedroom houses and four one-bedroom flats being built – all for affordable rent.

The development has been part-funded by a £200,000 grant from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), while Wirral Council has also contributed £70,000 towards the build.

Peter Rooney, project manager at Onward Homes, which LHT is part of, says: “We are delighted that work is underway on 10 new homes in Beechwood.

“This new development will help address the current shortage of four-bedroom properties in the area, and turn previously derelict land into modern affordable homes for local people to live in for years to come.”

Work on the development is expected to be completed by May 2018.
