Zara in Liverpool enjoyed a successful opening weekend, as shoppers got a chance to see the new North West flagship store for the first time.

Queues of up to 40 minutes were reported at the store, which is now a third larger than the previous premises on South John Street. With a new designer feel to mimic fashion stores in continental Europe, the store is the brand’s regional hub for ladies, mens and childrens wear, according to the clothing retailer.

Miles Dunnett, head of asset management at Liverpool One owner Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, says: “Zara’s new store is a fantastic addition to Liverpool ONE’s line-up of leading fashion brands.

“As significantly, it is their new regional flagship, which is a great endorsement of the strength and appeal of Liverpool One as the destination of choice for style-conscious consumers from throughout the North West.”

Zara announced the expansion earlier in 2014, when it revealed it would be taking the Boux Avenue unit on South John Street’s upper level. It follows expansion by other Liverpool ONE retailers including Ted Baker and Coast.
