A total of 56 new rental homes will be built at the Norris Green Village (NGV) development, after Liverpool City Council agreed to transfer 2.95 acres of land to Regeneration Liverpool.

The regeneration partnership between Sigma Inpartnership and the council will expand the NGV scheme with 56 affordable rental homes, adding to the 249 homes already built on the site and the 123 currently under construction. The 56 new homes will comprise 36 two-bedroom, 18 three-bedroom and two four-bedroom semi-detached homes at the North Liverpool site.

The new homes will be managed by Liverpool Mutual Homes and will be built by Countryside. The council says it will help it reach its target of 5,000 new home for the city.

Councillor Ann O’Byrne, the city council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and chair of Regeneration Liverpool, says: “This is another important step forward for the regeneration of Norris Green, and this next phase will provide affordable social housing for local people. We are committed to making Norris Green a great place to live and the improvement in housing is helping attract families back into the area. While there is still work to do, there is no doubt that huge progress has been made, and Phase 5 will take the number of properties delivered by the Regeneration Liverpool partnership to over 400.”

Work is expected to begin in January 2015, according to Sigma.
