Many of you will be attending one of Liverpool’s many New Year’s Eve club nights this year but if that isn’t your thing, why not check out one of the alternative New Year’s Eve events in Liverpool. Here we have bizarre circus nights to fireworks on the waterfront, all in one handy list.
Waterfront fireworks at Cargo
Instead of the usual ‘DJ in a warehouse’ on offer throughout much of Liverpool, why not make the most of the city’s stunning waterfront with a five course meal, live music and fireworks at one of Your Move’s favourite new venues of the year, Cargo. The restaurant, at the northern end of the city’s waterfront, is one of the few places to enjoy fireworks on the front and boasts spectacular views across the water for a more elegant new year night. Tickets are £69.95 per person.
Newsham Park Hospital ghost tour
Newsham Park Hospital is a former mental hospital and orphanage that has lain untouched since it closed its doors, making it one of the spookiest places in the UK. Now you can spend the night there with a champagne reception followed by a spooky ghost hunt at 4am through the abandoned corridors of the haunted premises. Bring your own duvets and pillows for this nightmareish new year experience – and hope you make it to 2015 in one piece. It is pricey however, at £149 per person.
Circo Vegas
What better way to bring in the new year than with a Las Vegas-themed ‘freakshow’ of ‘aerialists, fire eaters, showgirl dancers, illusionists, clowns and more at the bizarre, circus-themed Albert Dock night spot, Circo. Gursts can enjoy a bite to eat at the 1770 restaurant while enjoying the show before heading into the bar for DJs through the night. Prices start at £45 per head for the earlier three course meal (7pm) and £55 per head for the 9.30pm meal and show. Bar tickets are £15.
Liverpool Comedy Central
A short walk through the Albert Dock from Circo is a more light-hearted offering; a New Year’s Eve comedy club featuring a host of comedians. The basement comedy club beneath Blue Bar & Grill costs £35 for a ticket or £68 with a three course meal at the restaurant. All tickets allow access to the dockside bar for the big countdown.
Rooftop drinks at Oh Me Oh My
Oh Me Oh My is one of the city’s best lunch diners and most spectacular wedding venues. The historic building overlooking Liverpool’s waterfront will open its doors for new year with a fantastic night of disco and DJs – but there’s also the chance to head up to the roof for unrivalled views of the river and Three Graces. Enjoy a sparkler and a hot toddy in one of the city’s best locations, all for just £15.
