The line-up for a concert to raise funds for a statue of Brian Epstein, labelled ‘the fifth Beatle’ as manager of the band, has been announced.

BBC Radio Merseyside’s Billy Butler will host the concert at the Liverpool Epstein Theatre and the show will take place over two acts.

For the first act of the concert, titled “The Spirit of the Cavern”, musicians and performers from the Mersey Beat era including Cy Tucker, Faron, Beryl Marsden, Ray Ennis, Karl Terry, Billy Kinsley and Tony Crane perform their tributes to the music that played on the stage of the famous Cavern Club during the 1960’s, where the Beatles made their name.

The second act of the concert, named ‘The Legacy of the Cavern’ which will feature some of Liverpool’s current musical talent including MonaLisa Twins, Millie Courtney and Ian Prowse.

The concert will also be a chance for “Statue 4 Eppy” campaigner Bob Pitt to showcase the official single of the fundraiser, the single is called “Our Friend” and also features psychic Derek Acorah and actors Paul Barber and John Mcardle and artist Billy J Kramer, who was represented by Epstein at the height of his career.

The concert hopes to raise £70,000 for a stature of former Beatles manager Brian Epstein. If successful sculptor Tom Murphy, who created the John Lennon statue outside John Lennon Airport, will create the statue.

The Statue 4 Eppy concert is on Saturday the 28th of February at the Epstein Theatre, Liverpool at 7:30pm.
