Plans to convert Citrus House on Dale Street in to 34 apartments have been given the green light by Liverpool’s planning committee.

The plans submitted by Manchester-based architect Day Architectural on behalf of the Grade II-listed building’s owner show the upper seven floors of the building will be turned into 20 two-bedroom and 14 three-bedroom apartments. The two-bedroom apartments have been called ‘Tudios’ and Day Architectural says they will be the first of their kind in Liverpool, offering shared studio space.

The ground floor of the building will be converted into two retail or commercial units operating independently to the rest of the building. Meanwhile, the listed building will get an external makeover including a new roof light on the sixth floor and a new double door at the ground floor to allow access to the alley behind.

The architect says the new homes will offer ‘apartment style living in the heart of the city’. It says: “The conversion of the property will help bring life back into the property with many of the internal original details being exposed and utilised as features within the apartments, the changes at ground floor level will also help to reconnect the building with the street.”
