Creative students could help design a roof terrace in Liverpool city centre as a competition has been launched.
Queen Insurance Buildings owner Bruntwood has called on relevant students as well as architects and design consultants to submit designs for the space at the site.
There is no specific brief from the buildings owners, except that real plants and recycled materials should be incorporated. The winning design will be implemented at the Victorian building for at least 12 months.
The Queen Insurance Buildings straddle two of Liverpool’s main commercial streets; Dale Street and Castle Street, with property firm Bruntwood welcoming designs for its 3.6m x 2.4m roof terrace.
Colin Sinclair, director of workspace development at Bruntwood, says: “Ideally, we’d like to see real plants and recycled materials featured, but beyond that there is no prescribed design brief so it’s a great opportunity for established and budding designers to strut their creative stuff.
“The winning design will give the space a quirky and contemporary edge while complementing the aesthetic beauty and history of these wonderful buildings.”
