Tickets are on sale for the Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament 2015, after last year’s event saw reigning Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli beaten by a 15-year-old challenger.

Organisers of the tournament say talks are underway to bring more tennis legends and current world stars to the 14th annual tournament, after Bartoli appeared in the previous event where she was beaten by British hopeful Jodie Burrage.

Liverpool tournament organiser Anders Borg says: “Over the years we have delivered everything. Grand Slam winners, reigning champions, legends and even a few shocks from the rising stars!

“The tournament is part of the fabric of Liverpool, a key event of the summer. Last year the entire globe sat up and took notice of the tournament and this year we are planning to make the Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament even bigger again.”

The tournament will once again work with schools to encourage young people to play tennis, after setting a record for the largest tennis lesson in the world in 2014. Liverpool City Council is working with the tournament organisers to offer tennis lessons at Liverpool Tennis Centre in Wavertree as part of the event.

The 2015 Liverpool International Tennis Tournament tickets are on sale now, with 10% discount if they are purchased before 1 March. The tournament returns to Liverpool Cricket Club in Aigburth on 18 – 21 June 2015.
