Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram visited Legacie’s The Gateway development on Leeds Street in Liverpool to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week and highlight the positive impact of apprenticeship schemes on local communities.

Mayor Rotheram met with current apprentices and trainees employed by Legacie and sales partner RWInvest at the major residential scheme, which is set to play a key role in the regeneration of Liverpool’s Pumpfields district.

As part of its Bright Futures scheme, Legacie, with support from RWInvest, welcomes young apprentices and trainees from Merseyside each year who are not currently in education, employment, or training.

The scheme offers full-time, paid apprenticeships in construction, hands-on on-site experience, mentorship from experienced staff, and a degree-level industry qualification in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University.

The Gateway development has already created over 30 on-site jobs and more than 500 jobs through the local supply chain. Additionally, seven trainees and apprentices have been employed through Legacie and RWinvest as part of the Bright Futures initiative.

The Gateway is one of the largest residential developments underway in Liverpool, consisting of four towers, two of which are connected by a seventh-floor landscaped sky bridge. With 656 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, The Gateway will offer a range of residential amenities, including a garden spa with a swimming pool, a gym, a residents’ lounge, a private dining area, a cinema, and podcast booths. To date, more than 90% of the apartments have been sold, highlighting the strong demand for high-quality residential spaces in Liverpool city centre.
