The first programme of events to take place in Liverpool Philharmonic’s new Music Room venue has been revealed.
The event space, which has been created as part of the £13.8 million refurbishment of the Grade II* listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, will host concerts and gigs to workshops and master-classes from October.
On 9 October an ‘Open House’ event will welcome the public to drop in and explore the entire Hope Street venue and take a first look at the Music Room, as it’s unveiled during Liverpool Philharmonic’s 175th anniversary year.
With a 160-250 variable capacity and potential for cabaret-style seating, the venue’s programme includes folk, roots, acoustic, new music and performances by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Steve Nieve Plays Elvis Costello will be the first Music Room concert
The first Music Room concert on the bill will take place on 10 October with Steve Nieve; the composer, pianist and member of Elvis Costello’s band, The Attractions.
In the following months the venue will also play host to acts including North Wales’ acclaimed folk artists 9Bach, the 11-pice Treacherous Orchestra, gifted singer/songwriter Thea Gilmore, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and John Bramwell from I Am Kloot.

“Our aim is that Music Room’s distinctive live programme complements and expands the diverse live scene across our city. It will be a welcoming and friendly space for people of all ages to both experience and make music and an exciting addition to Liverpool Philharmonic’s already vibrant offer.”
