A look inside Liverpool’s new bar and kitchen The Merchant

Your Move was given a sneak peek inside Liverpool city centre’s new bar and kitchen The Merchant at a special launch event last night (28 April).

The nightspot, a new venture from the local entrepreneurs behind the Shipping Forecast, has opened in the Slater Street site which was formally occupied by the popular vegetarian café MelloMello.

The Merchant is comprised of a Scandinavian-feel cafe-bar with a DJ area, a spacious rear garden, and a restaurant area. The site adjoins the neighbouring Nightcrawler Pizza parlour to form an all-encompassing nightspot dedicated to food and drink.

Its bar specialises in craft beer and cask ales, both locally sourced and from further afield, and offers prosecco on tap. There’s also a dedicated gin parlour which brings spirits from around the world to Liverpool.

Nightcrawler Pizza shares the space with The Merchant

Alongside Nightcrawler Pizza, The Merchant houses Felicity’s Kitchen, an eatery that will host a variety of different food traders from around the North West on a revolving residency basis. Leeds-based burger specialist Patty Smith’s is the guest at launch.
