A new £1.5 million Cuban bar and cantina is expected to open at Liverpool’s Albert Dock in June.

Work is underway to transform the waterfront destination’s former Blue Bar & Grill into Revolución de Cuba, which will also play host to live music, salsa lessons, networking events and private parties in the city.

Ahead of the chain’s arrival, which already has a number of bars around the country and will create 100 local jobs, further details of its Latin inspired menu and a drinks offering specialising in rum have been revealed for the city eatery.

An “impressive selection of premium cocktails and a wide selection of rums” are said to be in store for visitors alongside “relaxed daytime food and drink” and a “more traditional Cuban celebration” by night.

Light lunchtime tapas, classic paella and beef skewers will be joined on the menu by dishes such as burritos and hamburguesas and Revolución de Cuba’s specialty guacamole made with secret ingredients.

Meanwhile the interior will follow a “rustic, chic inspired theme” with spinning ceiling fans, vintage furniture and a live music stage.

Ahead of the opening Paul Williams, general manager at Revolución de Cuba Liverpool, says: “It’s incredibly exciting to be opening our new bar and cantina on Liverpool’s Albert Dock, which is famous throughout the world. We can’t wait to become part of the famous skyline and offer Latin inspired cuisine to both local residents and all those who visit the city.”
