Liverpool’s Bierkeller is set to hold its first Barnival on 3 April – a special event which combines a bartending competition with a fun-filled carnival.
Aimed at celebrating the skills that go into bartending, contestants will be judged on their speed, accuracy, mixology and entertainment – four skills which are considered vital by most companies in the industry.
Bartenders and bar-goers alike are welcome to enter the competition which will have over £1,500 in prize money up for grabs across the day.
The carnival side of the event will feature classic games with a drink-related twist including ‘Hook a Drunken Duck’ and ‘Shot Shy’ – similar to a coconut shy but with the aim of the game to knock over a shot bottle.
The event, sponsored by Red Bull, Maxxium, Bierkeller and Performance Bartending UK, is the brainchild of former tandem bartender world champion Colin Griffiths and entrepreneur and flair bartender Mark Welsh.
Doors open at 2pm with qualification rounds running until 8pm before the finals get underway at 9pm.
