A new exhibition which explores how art can help blind military veterans overcome the barriers of sight loss will open in Liverpool this month.

Held at St George’s Hall, ‘Art – Life Beyond Sight Loss’ will include paintings, woodwork and ceramics produced by a number of blind veterans who have been trained in new techniques by the charity Blind Veterans UK.

Many of the items displayed in the exhibition will be up for auction, including a collection of signed portraits of celebrities such as Steven Gerrard, Joanna Lumley, Sir Andy Murray and Lorraine Kelly.

Visitors to the exhibition will also be given the opportunity to learn about the origins of the charity, which was founded in 1915 to help soldiers blinded in World War I, and its connections with Liverpool.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 14 – 29 January, excluding Mondays and Tuesdays.
