Families across Liverpool could get their hands on a free book next week as a special city-wide reading event takes place.
Anytime is Storytime will return for a second year on 10 August, taking place at 13 locations with storytelling sessions and book giveaways for those who attend.
Aimed at children under seven, the initiative will look to encourage families to read for pleasure as trained representatives from The Reader and Beanstalk tell stories.
Dr Jane Davis, director and founder of The Reader which supports the event alongside City of Readers, Give A Book, Save the Children and Beanstalk, says: “It is so exciting for this huge, free event to be taking place in Liverpool for a second year running.
“With a number of fantastic organisations and venues on board, it is so thrilling to share stories across the city and bring people together with a love for literature.”
Mayoral lead for primary education, Councillor Lana Orr adds: “Reading is something you can do individually or together in most places, whatever your age.
“Our aim is to encourage families to read together more often and make it an integral part of their lives. I’d encourage people to come along and take part in the Anytime is Storytime events across the city.”
The event will be underway from 12-3pm at the following locations:
