Cunard will continue to celebrate its 175th anniversary by unveiling a new gin based cocktail on World Gin Day (13 June).
The cocktail, named ‘A Transatlantic Love Affair’ will feature Liverpool Gin, and debut on board the Cunard’s Three Queens in July.
Devised by award winning Liverpudlian bar tender, Joe Wild, the cocktail takes inspiration from Cunard’s spiritual home and the role the company has always played in connecting both sides of the Atlantic.
Joe, who works at 81 LTD, says: “As soon as I was asked I knew immediately that Cunard, and Liverpool’s rich history would dictate the ingredients for this very special cocktail. From the lime, inspired by Lime Street Station in Liverpool to the Bourbon mist, which perfumes the drinks so guests can literally smell America on the horizon.”
The drink will make it’s debut on 4 July when Liverpool will the Queen Mary 2 will set sail from the banks of the Mersey headed for New York, re-enacting the first ever Transatlantic Crossing.
Guests can enjoy the cocktail in the observational cocktail bar, the Commodore club.
Angus Struthers, Cunard’s marketing director, says: “as Cunard celebrates its immensely rich 175 year history; we continue to seek new ways to enhance our guest experience. Luckily we had to look no further than our spiritual home in this special year to bring our guests this highly acclaimed new premium Liverpool Gin based cocktail.”
The Transatlantic Love Affair will be available on board the Queen Elizabeth on 14 July and Queen Victoria from 19 July.
