A prominent Dale Street building where the likes of Miles Kane and The Zutons once rehearsed is to go under the hammer during an online property auction next month.

Constructed in 1882, the five-storey Princes Building has been recently refurbished to provide 35 residential apartments, two ground floor retail units and basement accommodation.

Described in The British Architect journal of August 1882 as a “good example of street architecture from Liverpool by Mr Henry Shelmerdine”, the premises were originally home to a leather works, shops on the ground floor and offices on the first and second floors.

Sutton Kersh’s 21 May auction will feature a mixture of commercial & residential properties, along with some “fantastic” investment & development opportunities. Two new properties which are already proving popular are 58 Argyle Street South in Birkenhead and a bungalow on Gateacre Vale Road.

Cathy Holt, auction director, says: “We are looking forward to taking our online auctions one step further next month, it’s just a shame about the circumstances surrounding it.

“Due to COVID-19, our next auction will be streamed live with our resident auctioneer. All bidders will need to register for remote bidding. There will be no in-room bidding and the live stream will be released on our website on the morning of the auction.”

Despite the current global pandemic, Sutton Kersh has so far this year sold 140 lots, equating to a total value of £12.2 million.

The auction house maintains that interest around property auctions is still strong as it’s a “quick and effective way to buy and sell property or land”.
