A UK theatre school business which was given a boost by BBC’s Dragons’ Den is now bringing its blend of performing arts to Liverpool children.

Well-known entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne invested in Razzamataz Theatre Schools back in 2007, when founder and director Denise Hutton-Gosney pitched the part-time theatre brand on the show, and now Razzamataz at the city’s Belvedere Academy is the latest of almost 40 schools to open nationwide.

Ahead of the 12 September launch at the South Liverpool school, its principal Lyndsey Winstanley says: “Nurturing young talent and building up a child’s confidence and self-esteem is a big part of what we do at Razzamataz.

“We teach the children a mix of commercial street dance and musical theatre so they get to experience the very best of what the performing arts has to offer.”

As well as three-hour sessions of dance, drama and singing run by the Razzamataz team, the school will also aim to bring top professionals to the city for special workshops.
