Fairfield pub could be converted into apartments

A derelict pub in Fairfield could make way for modern apartments under new plans submitted to Liverpool City Council.

Proposals to transform the Alexandra pub on Prescot Road into six self-contained flats and bring a neglected building back into use have been revealed.

Five of the proposed apartments are envisioned as one-bedroom flats, with the remaining unit serving as studio accommodation.

The scheme promises to respect the aesthetic of The Alexandra and enhance its remaining historical features as well as add landscaping to accommodate bin and cycle storage.

A statement issued to the council reads: “The scheme proposes five one-bedroom apartments and one studio within, as informed by the existing curtilage of the former Alexandra public house.

“The layout has been informed by the existing curtilage and planned around an existing central staircase to overlook Prescot Road and Freehold Street.

“The proposed development will not vary from the scale set by the existing building.”

The site of the former Alexandra pub is located in a dense residential area within 3km of Liverpool city centre with strong transport links close by.
