A homeless Fazakerley woman left heartbroken by the Manchester Arena bomb attack has held a fundraising event to raise money for the victims.

Danielle McDonough, 30, who is a resident at Alt Bank House hostel, decided to organise a craft and cake sale after hearing about the tragedy on the news.

Danielle, who suffers with compartment syndrome and has to use a wheelchair, says: “It was all over the television and radio. The more I listened to it, the more I wanted to do something.

“I can’t really do much myself, but I do enjoy baking cakes. So I thought why not take something I like doing and use it to try and help?”

Danielle has been a resident at Alt Bank House for six months after being evicted from her home.

The charity event, which took place on Wednesday 21 June, raised a total of £127 – with all proceeds going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

Dalite Lucy, homeless prevention coordinator at Knowsley Council, who attended the event, adds: “We work very closely with Alt Bank House and are delighted to come and show our support for this event.

“It was such a nice idea by Danielle to do something amazing, and it is wonderful to see all the residents getting involved. There’s nothing like tea and cake to bring people together.”
